Finding the outpost
We're at 9380 River Rd, New Braunfels, TX 78132, between the third and fourth crossing. From I-35, take exit 191 (FM 306) west about 8 miles, left on River Road, and we're 2.5 miles down on the right — look for the blue water tower and the line of school buses. If you hit the Rockin' R low bridge you've gone a quarter mile too far.
A GPS warning that we give everyone: some map apps try to route you over the second crossing, which floods and closes after heavy rain. If River Road is barricaded, don't drive around the barricade (people do; it's why the barricade exists). Backtrack to FM 306 and come in from the north side instead — adds ten minutes.
